I love Sunday: 5 things

  •  Love being able to walk in ballerines during autumn :)

  •  Autumn is here and the colours! the colours are oh so amazing!

  • My new favourite restaurant: Pizza delArte. The have the best menus and always great locations

  • Well, all you need is to read Le Petit Prince and then you realise the best things in life don't cost as much as a Valentino bag. Only the heart can see the essential.

That orange autumn feeling!

Via

Sometime ago, in Goa.

When I returned home to renew my visa in June, all I wanted to do was get back to France. Now that I'm in France and lovely Par-ee all I want is to go home, sleep in my super comfy bed, under my mauve sheets, play with our pets and eat the great food my aunts make. France is great but it doesn't hold a candle to the hospitality, the warmth, the honesty, the pure affection you receive in a nice Goan home. If I can boast that my life is filled with riches, it wouldn't be wealth I'm referring to; it would be the simple yet exquisite things that make home so amazing. The things you overlooked while you were home and would give anything now to see them again.
Dogs and cats are the cutest. Although since our cat passed away, I will find it hard to not have any feline presence in the house.
"Breathless, we flung us on a windy hill, Laughed in the sun, and kissed the lovely grass." Rupert Brook
You fall in love with sea town stuff strewn around the coastal belt.
Finding wild ferns in my backyard always makes me happy! :)
Monsoons are gorgeous in Goa, farmers are sowing tiny rice saplings, raindrops stay on leaves, some people shut shop..
I miss ooh-ing and aah-ing whenever I pass colonial Portuguese houses filled with history. I wish I owned one :'(
Because then I would have a magnificent ballroom with chandeliers and a piano to accomodate my imagination and all the people living in it! I would probably have guests over too but wouldn't let them use the antique furniture.
I would also have a beautiful façade with colorful ornate windows!
If you get over your fear of creepy crawlies, you realize that they look good in photos.
I miss plucking guavas from my grandma's guava trees, eating them in the form of jam or Goa's infamous guava cheese (it isn't really cheese, it's a chewy fudge-like candy made from fresh guavas, yum!)
Sigh! Seashells on the sea shore. Who doesn't love the crunch crunch sound they make beneath your feet :)
I even want a wind chime made of shells, how pretty is this! Seashells are a form of positive energy, no one ever gets tired admiring them.
Oh how you love the beach. Especially during the rains when there is no one around!
You love it when the sun peeps out of the grey clouds, you love when the surf gently flows over your feet..
The best time to visit the beach in Goa? Anytime :)
Goa is filled with religious buildings which are architectural marvels and you can't help feeling proud of the unity in diversity, of the hundred religious groups who have decided to co-exist peacefully, you can't help feeling proud of your India :)
Churches are a perfect example of Portuguese architecture that is still well preserved and appreciated.
Roads- some lead nowhere, some are filled with potholes and puddles, most are lined with coconut trees, some roads lead to the sea, you remember clearly all the roads that you trod on to get to where you are, but sometimes you wish you was on the road this carefree toddy tapper is taking, maybe the road that passes through the latin quarters or on the road leading up hill to your grandma, or simply the road to simplicity. Happiness.

I love Sunday: 5 things

  •  Lovely ornate restaurants in Paris, streets lined with postcards, and streets that tourists would generally miss.

  • My new babies arrived a few days ago! A functioning Kodak Retinette F and a collector's Uni Fex from Fex Indo! :)

  • I love autumn and it's colours but I also love the last flowers lingering around!

  • Totally loving Gad Elmaleh and the fact that he's lending his voice to Tintin. I love Tintin too and can't wait to see the Steven Spielberg version in cinema on Wednesday!

  • It's begin to feel like Christmas in France. The season is going to be difficult without my mum and the rest of my family. I love Christmas in Goa and the sweets, the clatter, chatter, the lights on the xmas tree, midnight masses, etc. But I'm not to going to think about all that. Monsieur S's family have invited me to spend Christmas with them in the Loire valley and I'll try to have a good christmas away from home. I'm loving the various xmas decorations especially candles that France makes!

A day in bohemia..

I love Sunday: 5 things

You just haven't had time to update your blog with the gazillion things happening right now. But yet you feel good on a sunday and figure out what are the five things you love most today! So here goes:
  • The Artist! Just came out of the cinema hall an hour ago and I had to share this with the world! This film leaves everybody spellbound! The first of it's kind in our century. A silent movie displaying the life of George Valentin, a silent movie star whose pride stops him from jumping on the talkies wagon and thus putting an end to his career. But will the lovely Peppy Miller come to his rescue? Watch this marvellous piece of art! Especially those of you who are as obsessed about vintage as me!

  • This lovely delicious avocado and chilly flake appetizer, Guacamole! Just can't get enough of it!
  • A mosaic of French doors, being an architecture fan, you can help wonder why people don't put a little effort into the esthetic of every building!
  • Finally you are doing something you've wanted to do for the longest while! Learning Italian! Si Si Si.
P:S to self SHOULD LISTEN MORE ATTENTIVELY TO ITALIAN PROFESSOR RATHER THAN DAY DREAM ABOUT RIDING A VESPA WITH GREGORY PECK ON VIA LABICANA TOWARDS THE COLOSSEUM AND THEN MAKING A QUICK STOP AT PIAZZA DI SPAGNA FOR SOME GELATI :)

  • Your best friend's puppy aptly named Cujo. Don't be fooled by the cute face and furry veneer, this one's a biter. But do you care? No! because he is so photogenic and the cutest when he props his head curiously to face the camera! :D

R.I.P Steve Jobs

"Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

Vintage eye

I love thrifting/"vide greniers" in France. You never know what treasures you can find. You have to keep an eye out only for the things you love most because there's so many nice things at such affordable prices, you end up buying tons of lovely junk and then have no space to stash it! But if it's vintage cameras you find, you just have to have them all. And that was the case yesterday, there were two functioning and other collector's cameras available at the market. You are ready to buy them all but end up listening to the wise Monsieur S. (because he is the sensible one) and buy the cameras that you can maybe try out someday (if the film is available/affordable). I love these babies and I can't help imagining what lives they've lived especially my 1976 Chinon 35 EE. And the best thing ever? I paid just 5€ per piece. Great day or what!!
